What is USB Type-C™?
For USB Type-C™ you have to differentiate between the USB version (USB 2.0, 3.0, 3.1). Since the introduction of the USB Type-C™ connector and the USB 3.1 interface (Gen 2), there has been a lot of confusion regarding the connection. Since USB Type-C™ is not automatically USB 3.1 (Gen 2), much less Thunderbolt™ 3. Many products are equipped with the new form factor Type-C™ but do not come with USB 3.1 (Gen 2) protocol. So it is possible that notebooks and tablets still only support USB 3.0 or even USB 2.0 despite the modern USB Type-C™ interface. Pay special attention to the manufacturer's specifications! USB 3.1 (Gen 2) offers with the Type-C™ port not only a data transfer rate of up to 10 Gbit/s but can also transfer audio and video signals in different Alternate Modes (Alt Mode).
What is Power Delivery?
USB can be used to power simple devices such as a mouse and a keyboard. Depending on the USB standard, the power ranges from 2.5 (USB 2.0), 4.5 (USB 3.0) to 7.5 (passive) watts, or 15 watts (active) with USB Type-C™ connectors. However, this is usually not enough to supply large USB devices with sufficient power. In order to solve the problems that occur while charging, USB Power Delivery 2.0 / 3.0 (USB PD) has published a specification for power supply over USB. Devices can be supplied with up to 100 watts of power via the USB Type-C™ interface. For example, to charge your notebook.
What is Alternate Mode?
A part of USB Type-C™ is Alternate Mode (Alt Mode). It ensures that several functions can be covered via a USB Type-C™ interface, and thus via a single cable. E.g. DisplayPort™ and HDMI®. For example, a DockingStation can be supplied with signals for audio, video as well as data at the same time. It is very important that both devices (the DockingStation and the notebook or PC) support Alternate Mode (Alt Mode)!
Compatibility with host computers?
Your notebook or PC must support Alternate Mode (Alt Mode)! Otherwise, a Thunderbolt™3 Type-C™ port must be available. Please refer to the notebook manual for information on the USB Type-C™ port. This USB Type-C™ function is described as Alternate Mode, Alt Mode, DP Support, DisplayPort Support, or Display Support.
Can my notebook be charged at the DockingStation?
Yes, if the notebook supports Power Delivery 2.0. DockingStation can be used without power delivery. Check the manual regarding the information on USB Type-C™ or USB-PD.
How many monitors can I connect to the DockingStation?
With Windows® a max. amount of two monitors can be connected. With MacOS® two screens can be connected but one must be mirrored.
How can I continue working with my closed notebook?
Windows® provides special settings that control how the notebook behaves when the lid closes.
• You can make these settings in the power options.
• Select Settings – System - Power & sleep.
• Select "Additional power settings".
• Go to “Choose what closing the lid does".
• Select "Do nothing”.

To keep the Mac® from shutting down when it's closed, the following actions are necessary:
• The MacBook® must be connected to the power supply.
• A mouse and keyboard must be connected.
• A monitor must be connected.

In this case, the MacBook® can also be used when closed.
Can I set the DockingStation's frame rate?
Yes, this is possible, the DockingStation supports a maximum of 30 Hz or 60 Hz.
The included USB cable is too short, can I use a third-party cable?
Yes, this is basically possible. However, it is not recommended! If you decide to use a third-party cable, make sure the cable meets the required specifications. the cable must support power delivery and alternate mode. Be sure to use active cables if you want to use cable lengths of more than 1 meter.
No network connection via the DockingStation, but via the host computer. What is the problem?
It is possible that the LAN/WLAN is only released for a known MAC address. In this case, the MAC address of the DockingStation and notebooks must be equated, or the passthrough of the MAC address of the notebook must be enabled. You can usually make this setting in the BIOS of your notebook.
Can another adapter with alternate mode support be connected to the docking station?
No, a daisy chain connection of USB Type-C™ Alternate Mode supported products is not possible.
Does the DockingStation prevent the use of video connections on the notebook directly?
No, using the DockingStation does not limit the functionality of your video ports on the notebook itself.
Everything is connected, but it still does not function?
• Install all current USB drivers on your system.
• Install the current drivers for the graphics card in your system. (We recommend that you always obtain the drivers directly from the manufacturer.)
• After installing the latest drivers, restart your system.

Check the connected components individually in a different environment, to confirm functionality. Check the following components thoroughly: The cables used, the monitor(s), your notebook, and the USB Type-C™ port used as well as the DockingStation itself.
Why is my notebook not being charged even though the DockingStation is connected?
Your notebook may not support power delivery or have special charging requirements. Find out from the manufacturer of your notebook which standard is supported.
The displayed image from the DockingStation is jittering and/or flickering.
• This may occur if the framerate is set incorrectly. Check your system’s settings. For example, if 59 Hz is set, change it to 60 Hz. The same applies to 29 Hz, to be set here to 30 Hz.
• If the problem persists, try using a high-quality cable.
My Android Tablet does not play any sound when connected to the DockingStation. How can I output audio via the Android Tablet?
Android automatically outputs the sound via a USB Type-C™ connected device. This setting can be deactivated manually, but the Android developer options must be activated first. You can change the "Disable USB AudioRouting" setting in the "Developer Options" menu. The DockingStation must be reconnected for the setting to take effect.

ATTENTION! By enabling the developer options, your Android device can be set up with deep system settings. We do not recommend activating the developer option!
If I disconnect the power supply from the DockingStation, the connection to the monitor is disconnected and immediately reactivated.
This behavior complies with the USB Power Delivery specification and is absolutely standard. If the power supply is disconnected from the DockingStation, the direction in which the current flows must be changed. The DockingStation must then be powered from the notebook and not from the power supply. Immediately after changing the current flow direction, all connected monitors are reconnected. This can be up to 5 seconds.
Why does my wireless mouse or keyboard look sluggish or not work properly when used with the DockingStation?
Most USB wireless mouse and keyboard receivers work in the 2.4GHz band. Connecting the receiver to any USB 3.0 port can cause interference that can affect the performance of the device. The most effective method is to add a short USB 2.0 extension cable between the DockingStation and receiver to mitigate the effect, and many wireless keyboards and mice are therefore supplied with such a cable.
Why can I not get a network connection on my Mac?
-Disconnect the LAN cable from the docking station and Mac
-Delete the network list
-Connect the LAN cable again
-Create a new connection
How do I know the MAC address of the DockingStation?
- Connect the DockingStation to the running Windows® computer and connect the LAN cable, switch the DockingStation on if necessary.
- Right-click on the Windows® icon in the lower-left corner.
- Select the "Run" field.
- Enter cmd and confirm by pressing OK/ENTER.
- Write ipconfig/all and confirm by pressing the ENTER key.
- The connected network devices with MAC addresses are now displayed.

- Connect the DockingStation to the running MacOS® computer and connect the LAN cable, switch on the DockingStation if necessary.
- Click on System Report.
- Click on Network.
- Select the appropriate device. The MAC address is displayed below.
